It’s 3:47pm on Thursday. I have not had any coffee. I usually have 4-5 cups within a two hour period in the mornings. Caffeine is a drug and I am an addict. The weather is gorgeous today, but emotionally I’m a wreck. I’ve ruined the day for the girls I’m sure. That peaceful feeling… where is it… in the coffee pot where John made enough coffee this morning for the both of us. It’s waiting for me to give in and drink it. I’m thinking it sounds like a good idea.
I don’t know… adrenal fatigue and thyroid issues… trouble falling asleep in spite of being very tired… racing thoughts… racing heart… yup, too much coffee. Ahhhhhh!
So, if I don’t have any coffee, I won’t be able to post anything of merit tonight as I usually do. So, instead, I’ll leave you with this bit of absurd, weirdness in poor taste. I like Ralph Stanley’s music, and I love Jesco White. I think they are two of the most talented people in the world. I’m wondering how in the world they got up in this. Eric C. Conn. I don’t know the man, but he has large billboards advertising his services all in these hills. And, who in the world is this Obama girl? Man, Mr. Conn must have a ton of dough. He should take some dance lessons.

I watched this and felt like someone spiked my coffee. Eric C. Conn is a low life to make a video like this. Thank God he doesn’t live in Perry County.

Oh Kelli. you and me both. I am always trying to get off the stuff. Last time i lasted four days. then the baby got sick and started teething and I had to have it to feel human in school. Hubby gives me all this research about how it’s supposed to be good for you. I don’t buy it. It makes me feel tired and have a huge afternoon crash. I’m going to wean slowly this time….as soon as the baby feels better….
i couldn’t pull up the video. Oh well!
Hope you are having a lovely fall 🙂

4-5 cups a day is a lot of caffiene. personally, i have done the col-turkey coffee thing and it just is no fun, i actually got ill, flu-like symptoms, my whole body hurt. i have been told by many thatit helps to wean off coffee over the course of a couplemonths, first using half-decaf and drinking the same amount ofcups, then decreasing cups, ect. just my suggestion,i know its tough. or, what worked for me was being pregnant and nauseated, you couldnt have forced me to drink coffee at 7 weeks or thereafter!

Marge – I hear you. I really do.
I made it through the day and have made it through half of this one!!! Thanks to whole milk hot chocolate sweetened with honey. Yum! It hit the spot.
As for being good for you, I think you can argue that about many things, and for some people, it might be. For me, it’s not. I think it interacts with my thyroid meds and has been causing heart palpitations. No fun. I can get antioxidants too many other places to keep coffee for the health benefits. hehe 🙂 Also, I’ve gotten pretty involved in my yoga practice and I am much more aware of how it alters me. It’s not in a good way.
Emily – Yes, I’m sore all over and yesterday one would have thought I was having a nervous breakdown. But, though really sluggish and still kind of headachy I’m not emotional today, so I can deal with the rest. 🙂
Oh, dandelion root tea does not taste good to me. I need to find some herbal tea that does. I know there’s one somewhere.

I like peppermint tea.
But I can not live without coffee right now… of course if I had eight hours to devote to sleep that would be another issue. Hang in there mama, I admire your effort.

Kelli,
My midwife swore by a brew of nettles, red raspberry, and chamomile for helping immunity in the winter. Keep a jar in the fridge, serve with honey and lemon. We’ve also been making our own chai….10-12 cardamom pods, 10-12 whole cloves, a stick of cinnamon, and a knuckle length of fresh ginger, simmer 45 minutes, strain, add milk and honey to taste. You could even add green or black tea. Plus it makes the house smell good.

Oh! That chai sounds yummy! I’d probably leave out the tea, but anything warm with milk. That’s what I’m looking for. 🙂 I bought some Apple Spice tea today and some honey vanilla chamomile.

Look I dont Mr. Conn personally but I can tell you Ralph Stanley rule and is a legend in these parts. If Ralph Stanley made a video with him he must be a good guy. Obama Girl is cool.. I think Mr. Conn just wanted to grind some with obama girl and this gave him a great excues but who can blame him. Ralph we love you.

Of course Ralph Stanley is a legend in these parts… great musician! The Stanley Brothers with Carter is top notch. I love Jesco White too. I don’t know Mr. Conn either, and I had never seen Obama girl before this. I think adding her to the mix made for a tasteless commercial that almost makes fun of our culture. The part with her at the churn makes me sick! I think it really is demeaning to Ralph and his music to have him involved in that sort of thing. But, it is his choice and that is why I say “what the…”
